Response to hunting partners
by: Russ

I have lived in Oregon and archery hunted for deer and elk for over 40 yrs .. The older I get (70 yr) I realize the value of hunting with a group for safety reasons ( such as the possibility of getting hurt, lost , or getting a downed animal out in time before the bears, or coyotes get to them). For the sake of expanding the hunting experiences to others in the same age group, I am open to conversing and possibly helping out with someone whose bucket list includes elk hunting in Oregon. I believe we all owe it to the sport and beneficially one another to introduce and pass on the incredible experience of elk hunting especially to the next generation .

Hunter Relationships
by: David, Elk Hunting Tips

Good suggestions, Larry. You two are excellent partners. As you know, I hunt by myself, but it's good to know you two are not far away from where I hunt. We have connected more than once to help each other. It's important to build relationships with other hunters in your area that are trustworthy, even if you don't hunt with them. Hunting by yourself then becomes safer, even at an older age. I'm 63. Stay in shape to keep from having to call for help because of poor fitness.

partner
by: Larry

Tim I just saw your note about a partner. Although I am not looking for a partner I admire your vigor. I also turned 60 last year and love bow hunting elk. It's my passion. I have been very lucky in having the same elk hunting partner for the last 36 years. We do pretty well bow hunting elk in MT. Im at 60% for the last ten years. Good luck finding someone to hunt. I would suggest joining an archery league where you live and talk up a hunt and see who bites. You will have better luck finding someone where you live and traveling out together.

Looking for an Elk Hunting Partner?

by Dave, ElkHuntingTips.Net
(Montana)

A good hunting partner is invaluable. Hunters that learn to hunt "as one" make a great team. Every year there are people that come here looking for elk hunting partners. So, I decided to put together this dedicated section of the site for that specific purpose. Use the "Comment" section, if you want to post about looking for hunting partner(s), even if it is a species besides elk. Or, check out the comments below.

If you are looking for someone to hunt with, make sure you give as much information as you can about how and where you want to hunt, as well as your own skill level. Include the state(s) where you want to hunt in your subject title. The kind of hunting you want to do and the equipment you use might also be helpful. Be careful to "vet" a potential partner carefully and politely say no to someone that doesn't seem to be a good fit for your needs.

I would not recommend putting your intact email address on the submission or comments. It can get auto-spammed that way. Consider doing it like this (my email address): daveAtElkHuntingTipsDotNet. (Spell out At and Dot, instead of "@" and "." in your email address.) Once you make direct contact, you can then exchange phone numbers via private email communication. Or, feel free to Contact Us, if you need help exchanging contact information.

Here's to finding a good elk hunting partner!

There's a website called Huntingpartner.com that can help you find a hunting partner. It has a place to list what/who you're looking for. Members have a profile so you at least know something about the person.

How could it be?
by: Michael H

How could it be that the last entry here dates back to 2 years ago?? People can't find people in the land of 300++ million.
So many like me would look everywhere for a hunting partner. The newbies wouldn't know where to start. The experienced ones don't care to share or teach, worrying to give up favorite spots or even teach what they know. And the ones with a year or two in experience are too busy learning not to have time or willingness to take on a hunting buddy. Negative pessimist? No, not really. Just the reality of what I and so many I know go through.
The whole irreplaceable experience of having hunting partners have faded into something that I don't even have words for it. If I can't find a hunting partner in 2 years in this whole country, something is really wrong with this picture. Hoping for brighter days and stronger will to be a friend, as it was in the old days

looking for bow hunting partner for 3rd rifle season OTC 2014 in CO
by: Nathan

This is totally last minute, but I'm looking for an archery partner for 3rd rifle season 2014 in Colorado. I'm flexible on the actual dates (the season is Nov. 1-9).

I'm new to CO and new to elk hunting, I know, two of the best qualities a hunting partner can have. I'd prefer to backpack hunt, but I'm flexible on that too. I live in Longmont CO, but I'm willing to travel as needed.

Contact me if you are interested. My email lineintegral at hotmail dot com.

Hunting Partner
by: Elee Owen

Dear partner (if you allow).
I thank you very much for your offer and I am tempted to take it.But before that I will make a little brief of me so you know whom you might partner with.I am a US citizen of Lebanese origin.I am a civil engineer working abroad.I am mostly a bird hunter but did some deer hunting in NJ with a cross bow and 6 deer in N.Carolina couple years back with a rifle.I got fascinated by the elk when I saw the calling and hunting on the Utube.I am a fairly good shooter.I am naive about how to hook to the trip in Colorado and dont have a permit. I suppose the term OTC means over the counter. But does that mean you can always buy a permit over the counter? Can I buy it now? What do I have to have besides my rifle and hunting gear? When approximately in October you plan to go hunting?
I thank you again and await your response.

Hunting Partner for Colorado
by: Randy

Response to Elee Owen
For Hunting partner in Colorado email: randeye100@zoominternet.net if you send me an email, put hunting partner in the subject line. Driving out in September if I get a draw for muzzleloader season GMU 41 in September. My son and grandson is going out with me in October for OTC bull. You can join us then as well if you like. They're unable to join me in September. So I'll go it alone if necessary. 68 yrs old, but up for anything within reason and plenty of preparations. Have hunted Colorado before and know what to expect and will be prepared for it.

Elk Hunting in Unit 81
by: Anonymous

I happened to see your post here on hunting in unit 81. I wondered how you happened to select this area in which to hunt in? I live in the mountains of Unit 80, and spend about 3 or more days a week on horseback in these units. I also have hunted this area since 1989. Back in the 90's, there were over 12,000 elk estimated to be in units 80 & 81. These days, the population is more like 7-8000. The hunting success rate is about 14%. Not so swell. With all the scouting I did last year, I saw very few Elk, and I hunted hard in areas the average guy can't get into. So, it's frustrating. Unit 81 is a better unit, however if you're on foot, expect a long hike to get into some good areas. You have more stamina than I, if you're willing to pack an elk out in that country! I have horses to do that for me. If you want any more info or my opinion, Feel free to get in touch @ windymtnmann@gmail.com

NW PA bow hunter
by: Skip shephard

Well, I too am retired. I am 68! Years old. In June of 2012 I suffered a life threatening intestinal infection. I am now in the recovery process. I work out 4-5 days a week at YMCA. I love to bow hunt. I have yet to harvest an animal with my bow.
So, I would like to be considered. I live in Tucson, AZ.

You can email me at: sirskip3@aol.com thanks
