Love my .325 WSM
by: Marion

It smacks em hard, especially the 300+ pound hogs we have in SC. I can't tell the difference between the .325 and the .338 WM and it kicks a bit less. My handloads feature the 200 gr Nosler Partition at 2800 with H4350. Mine is in a Kimber 8400 with the wood stock. Light and handy, it works well for me.

Bang Flop
by: Scalerman

I call my 325 " Bang Flop". The most number of steps taken by an animal shot with it is 2. Mine puts three bullets into a very small group. Recoil is much less than I thought it would be. Love my 325!!!

325 WSM multi loads
by: Alberta Hunter

I reload my own 325WSM with 160, 180, 200,and 220 using BARNES bullets. I have 4 different powders I use and all my loads are dialed in accurate on targets from 100 to 300 yards. Every thing drops when shot. Love the gun especially the quick release clip.

325 WSM is worth considering
by: Murray S.

I have a Winchester Model 70 325 WSM with a monty carlo stock. I have taken 11 black bears and a cow moose with it. I love how it shoots and love the gun. It has hardly any recoil (my daughter shot a black bear with it a year ago). Too bad there isn't more ammo produced for it. I have contacted Winchester a number of times to at least do a run of 220 grain power points which my 325 shoots great! Am glad I have it and will continue to use it.

325 wsm ammo
by: Anonymous

Update: You can still get 325wsm ammo. Nosler and Winchester have it once in a while. Here are others that carry it: Copper Creek,Double Tap, Hendershots,
Wisconsin Cartridge,Selway,Pendelton,SGA ammo,PCI.
I had Double Tap make me 200 rounds that were excellent. You can still get brass. Bertram Brass also makes up 325wsm cases(aside from Nosler and Winchester). Happy Hunting!!!

great caliber
by: Anonymous

I own two 325wsm rifles.I still find a few places to buy ammo. It forced me to take up reloading because I saw it is not surviving. Both my Kimber Super America and Browning ABolt titanium shoot great. It's too bad this caliber hasn't become more popular. Folks that use it love it. It is somewhat disappointing having bought into the marketing hype of a trendy caliber. However in the end,I like the lightweight and nice looking rifles. It doesn't hurt to have a caliber that gives more energy down range than a standard cartridge and is accurate. The 325wsm will thump an elk, moose, eland, bear, etc.,out to 500 yards with ease. Besides, I got an 8x57 Mauser to play around with,so it will all work out
becoming an 8mm kinda guy. It'll be another addition to my .30 calibers and other small bores.

325 WSM power
by: bar-Dub

My particular rig the Winchester M70 Extreme Weather, tho the Kimber Montana and the Browning X-bolt would have been just as nice. The 325 WSM is a true Elk caliber. Worthy when defining bullet weight, velocity and energy needed for these large animals standing at 300 plus yards. Like most WSMs, the 325 is accurate, but this one just hits the hardest. I don't know of too many commercial rounds that delivers this level of power in such a compact case. Its default bullet weight is 200 grains and it throws 220 grains superbly, if you want something heavier. There are other calibers with greater array of bullet weights, but how many do you really need and how often are your willing to sight in every time your decide change to a new bullet weight?

As an Elk hunter in the Rockies, I have had the privilege of harvesting these great animals using a number of rifles and calibers. The 325 WSM is my favorite and will be for sometime to come. This feeling is being shared by many experienced Elk hunters who appreciate noticeable power and velocity in a single compact cartridge.

Its unfortunate this caliber does not get the attention if deserves. The 8mm round is and has always been a great hunting caliber and many great gun writers still remain baffled why the 8mm isn't more popular. I'm hoping for the 325 WSM and even tho I reload, I still buy a box or two a month to let the manufacturers know this caliber still deserves to be in production.

325 WSM is a good one...
by: CJV

I own a stainless Kimber Montana in 325 WSM. I bought it used with a nice removable brake, which is actually pretty quiet. But it would not extract cartridges as the extractor was stuck in the stock because of too much bedding. So I discovered why the former owner sold the rifle, and I easily fix it. What a great gun! Light, accurate- 1" groups and powerful! Sadly I see the Montana is no longer being offered in 325 WSM. If you find one- buy it, because you'll be getting the same as a $3,000 custom rifle!

Because I also like wood/blue rifles I recently purchased another used 325 WSM... a Browning A-Bolt Medallion. What a sweet gun! I ordered a DNZ scope mount and will most likely go with a Leupold 2.5X8 scope. I also found and ordered 5 boxes of Winchester 220 Power Point, just for this rifle! I'm calling this my Elk Gun and expect the Power Points will make big wide deep holes!

Obviously with modern bullets standard cartridges are adequate for most game. But I prefer to use more than enough gun, to give me an edge. I like the 325 WSM because I feel confident shooting out to 400 yards at elk and moose with it. Not the same with my 30-06. My 300 Win- yes. But just as those in the know say the frontal area of a 30 caliber is better than that of a 7mm or 270, on larger game... so is the 32 caliber of the 325 WSM over any 30 caliber. I also like the 338 Win Mag and the 325 WSM smacks game hard and very similar to the 338! Those who hunt elk with a 338 and 210/250 Partitions, know what I'm talking about! The 325 WSM is a step up from the 30s, yet is offered in short action rifles.

I've hunted with everything from a 270/308Win to 375 H&H/416 Rem Mag, and could be quite happy with a 325 WSM for all North American big game hunting. When Mr. Big is in my sights, I'll take the Remington 416 Mag. So there is my 2 gun pick a 325 WSM and a 416 Rem Mag.

I think many Hunters overlooked the 325 WSM as a well balanced round for deer to moose! Too bad as the 325 is a great cartridge. I hope others discover this soon to help keep the round alive, but I'll get into reloading if I have to!

In Germany stand hunters prefer the bigger bullets of the 8mm Mauser over the 30-06 on Stag and Wild Boar. Once at a Shot Show Remington Reps told me how great their Big 8 was, and that the 8mm Rem Mag killed anything walking, but was not appreciated by hunters. Now we have the 325 WSM, another great and modern 8mm! Yes, the 325 WSM is worth considering!
