Elk Sounds: Making
Realistic Sounding Elk Talk

We now have a total of three pages about elk calling and hunting calls. We have a new page that is a review of types of elk calls that are available on the market. We'll help you make the decision about elk hunting calls that might be right for you. See the elk hunting calls review page here.

Then, once you have calls in hand (or mouth), we get down to the nitty gritty of doing elk talk with elk calls. This new page is loaded with lots of audio of both real and call replicated elk sounds.

In summary, there are now a total of three recently added pages about "elk talk":

A general introduction to elk calling here, with audio of real elk.

A review of Types of elk hunting calls on the market here .

A How To page for using the calls, with audio of wild elk and replication on hunting calls.

Today was the first day of archery season in Montana. After the elk fed all night under a bright full moon, action was slow and the weather hot. I heard two bulls bugling between 9:00 and 9:30. A young sounding bull that I got pretty close to and another, perhaps more mature bull, a little farther away. Both seemed to be heading for bed!

And so am I. 4:00 a.m. comes too soon. I hope your elk hunting season goes well, whenever it starts for you!
