I wear my Gore Tex pants 100% of the time while hunting. I never know when I'm going to be kneeling on some wet grass or even crawling through snow. They also provide a level of warmth for when I'm sitting on my but glassing, and glassing, and glassing. I RARELY hunt when it's warm, so it always makes sense for me to wear them.
I always carry a rain poncho in my pack, but would prefer to have a waterproof parka.

I would consider Gore-Tex rain gear. I prefer not to hunt in Gore Tex clothing unless it is raining. I personally find it too warm and not as breathable. I would like to hear what others say who wear Gore-Tex or other waterproof clothing even when it isn't raining.
I carry a coat in my pack that is waterproof, but only put it on when it is threatening to rain. Walking through wet grass I use waterproof gaiters.
