Great story but you better check Colorado regs. I'm pretty sure you cannot use a pistol to hunt deer in Colorado.

Sounds like a fun night, Kevin! Spend some time reading everything under the Elk Down, Now What? tab to the left on this site. You'll find lots of information about handling elk carcasses and moving the meat.
I used a helmet video camera this year during archery elk hunts. It is a pretty good camera, but the quality was just not there. I filmed the bull I arrowed and could barely see him on the video. It was disappointing. Those helmet cams are just not that high a quality.
