I have been successful in Colorado for elk ever since I came here in 1997. I use 100 grains of triple 7 with a 245 grn. powerbelt. You cannot use pellets in Colorado and you cannot use a scope on you gun during muzzle loading season. I have found that the Powerbelt is the easiest bullet to use and is as accurate as a centerfire shell out of my gun. I shoot a Knight Wolverine, and would not trade it for any other gun on the market. This gun uses a plastic cap over the nipple to hold the 209 primer making it water tight, which I have fount to be the best time to hunt elk in Colorado. Good Luck and get some pics on here when you score!
