How's it going so far Dave in MI?

by Tim
(Colorado)

Dave,
How is your hunt planning going for your future elk hunt? I hope you had a good summer and a good fall and had a chance to try out some of your hunting gear and skills. We had a pretty good fall the last two years. Last year my son was 14 and shot his first pronghorn. This year he shot his first mule deer, a nice 4X4.

Some things you can tell your wife that might help get you to elk country: weather is better, much more sun than Michigan, employment outlook is A LOT better, drier climate, lots of places to go camping with NO BUGS, Broncos might be slightly better than the Lions, Rockies play in a beautiful stadium that has the sun setting over the mountains beyond the left field corner, fantastic skiing. Good luck in your quest!!
Tim

Excellent!
by: Dave MI

Summer was good, fall was better. Did a ranch hunt in MN for an elk. Not quite what I expected, but good, and affordable. Wife and I just adopted the bro/sis that we were fostering, so future hunting trips may be a bit harder to pull off. Though, he should be old enough to take with me in about a year or so. Trying to be discreet on the next hunt plan. Dad just informed me this weekend that our cousin has a contact out in Wyoming. Lots of property, semi-guided, only 4-6 guys can hunt property. Whole trip should be about $5K. Not sure of the area, yet. Need to get some more details, but not likely that I'll go next year anyway. I could spend that kind of $$ just about anywhere I go, so not much incentive.

Drew a doe tag for private property and was able to fill it. If it weren't for good friends, I'd be deerless!

Very happy for your son! That is great! Hope I can brag about things like that soon, too. He already likes to shoot (.22's) and shows quite a bit of interest in the hunting shows. Hope it takes hold.

Good points for my "ammo" bag! I'll have to have very good timing, though. Not quite there yet:) But all EXCELLENT reasons!!

The quest continues...
