Elk muzzleloading riffles

Hunting during the early muzzle loader season in Colorado can be challenging enough. Aside from unsure weather patterns day to day. The use of rifle scopes is prohibited (iron sites only) I use a 50 cal. Remington model 700 with a Hornady 488 grain maxi in front of 110 grains of Jim Shockys Gold powder. 100 yards or less is best for this combo but an increase in powder may get you a little further out. Because of the area I hunt most opportunities are within the 100yd range. As far a bullet selection goes, with proper placement , the 488gr gets the job done
