I shoot the Weatherby vanguard model of the 300 wby' with its synthetic stock and weighing about 8 1/2 lbs it shoots a little smoother than shooting my savage synthetic 110 model 30.06 rifle and I shoot the federal 180 grain sierra game king bullet through the Weatherby vanguard

The 300wby mag is one of my favorites because it is a flat shooting bullet and is very powerful.

300 Weatherby
by Jim Kang
(Eagle, CO)
It throws a 200 grain bullet really well, but the 180 grain is more than adequate to take any elk, anywhere. Love its undeniable stopping power, but hate the muzzle blast. A bittersweet caliber that I've come to love!

.300 Wby mag
I have been using Rem 7mm mag and it has been a really fun rifle for elk; flat with punch. But my new joy is the .300 wby mag. Pricey ammo, but the accuracy trade off past 300yds is tough to look past. 180g hand loads and a leupold VX-3. LIGHTS OUT!
